There are many groups in the world who are trying to raise awareness about child labor. They strive to educate the populace on the prevalence of child labor, why it is an issue, and how we can help in the efforts against it.
Fairtrade
One of these organizations is Fairtrade, an organization that raises awareness of child labor and other labor issues by placing its emblem (pictured above) on products made abiding to worldwide established labor laws. They hope that, by showing people which products are made legally and which are manufactured through the exploitation of others, people will start to buy only products made fairly, and because of this more and more companies will be hurt instead of benefited by child labor and other labor violations (University of Iowa Labor Center).
GoodWeave
GoodWeave is another organization that, like Fairtrade, puts its insignia on products made without child labor. GoodWeave was created with the goal of ending child labor in the rug industry, so they place their mark on all rugs made legally and abiding to all labor laws. They, too, wish to end child labor by bringing to attention this growing problem (University of Iowa Labor Center).
International Labor Organization
Lastly, child labor laws have been put into place by the International Labor Organization (ILO), a group of people dedicated to protecting the rights of working people and keeping everyone safe at their jobs. The ILO has been very active in the field of child labor throughout the years, and has placed restrictions on ages, hours, and the wage at which children can be hired. They are perhaps the most important organization in child labor (National Center for Farmworker Health).
